FRIDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... Interfaith ministry isn't just about about being a celebrant. These posts aim to paint a picture of how my ministry permeates all of my life... Today started with the disappointment of no hairdressers appointment again! My hair has taken on a life of its own... May it'll even have its own ministry soon After a busy few days at work... Fridays often start with catching up on all that I've laid down to focus on work and family...

TUESDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... So many people think interfaith ministry is about being a celebrant... so these posts aim to paint a picture of how ministry permeates all of my life... Today started early... well, early for me... maybe not for you! 6am. I've taught lots of people to meditate over the past few years and for those who want to remain in regular contact... to get a wee nudge with their meditation practice... I host the Motivated to Meditate Club.

MONDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... So many people I speak to about interfaith ministry see it as ceremony work... marking transitions, particularly marriage and death, but it feels so much more than that. I feel it permeates so much of my life so I've decided to write some 'day in the life of' posts to see if I can paint a picture... So, today started, like most days, with putting on my ruby ring and speaking aloud the vow I took at ordination last July and thus

I LOVE YOU PEN
Ooooh... look what I got this week... As some if you will know from my website I can marry couples in Scotland now I'm an ordained Interfaith Minister, but what you might not know (as I didn't until recently) is that its necessary to have a fountain pen to sign the marriage certificate. So... I've been looking for a beautiful pen... and came across some gorgeous wooden ones by Crafty Bassetts. I just love the idea of a pen made of wood... and how grounding it will be to sign

IMBOLC DOLL
Loved the honouring of Imbolc and Brigid at a ceremony I held tonight with a dear friend... We journeyed with Brigid the Goddess and Brigid the Saint. Here's an imbolc doll I made earlier today from twigs and moss and sheep's wool and yarn and fabric. She has a wee sack to carry my seeds of intention into the Spring. #imbolc #ceremony #doll #altar

IMBOLC BLESSINGS
May the Spring bring gentle growth and healing waters... May all you have seeded beneath the ground of your being start to come to life... May the creativity that's stirring in you find expression in the world ♡ Its 1st Feb... Imbolc... Brigid's Day... the first day of Spring! I love the contrast in this picture I took yesterday. .. the snowdrops that push their way up to mark the start of spring each year... and behind, the 5000 year old cairn on which the trees now stand...

NATURE QUEST
As part of the retreat I was on earlier this month we were invited to take a nature quest. This was our non-zoom time to dive into a practice, to bring insight, with the invitation for that insight to be shared on our return. Two hours in nature with the questions ...Who am I? and ...What does my heart most deeply desire to express or create? The reason I'd booked the retreat was to have a wee bit of time, before returning to work, to connect with myself and what I wanted to

LIGHT
I've got into a practice of lighting candles. Its not something I've ever done before, but whilst doing my ministry training it became a practice. Its a moment to pause, to consciously invite in the light, to remember the light in each of us and our connection through the light. Often I light a candle before a group meditation, before spiritual counselling, calling in all that supports us into the space. I loved observing the candle lighting of Hannukah at dusk each evening

REFLECTION
Usually on New Years Eve or maybe the day before, we go for a walk as a family and talk about the year we're leaving. Last year I have a feeling we did it indoors, in Fort William, at the TravelLodge, as I remember we labelled the floor Jan to Dec and 'walked through' the year together. This year we managed an actual outdoor walk. We went through the months remembering what'd happened... the highs... the lows... the achievements... the challenges... the places we've been...

HEAVY
Sharing in case its useful... A friend asked me this week how I was. She's the kind of friend who when she asks that question isn't expecting a 'fine'... she does actually want to know... I replied "Tired... exhausted...wondering if I'm depressed... lethargic... not cooked a meal all week... can hardly be bothered to get dressed... lazy... deeply sad... alternating between crying and trying not to cry" Good job she wasn't looking for a 'fine' huh?! The energy seems to be in

HEART LIGHT
I wanted to share my wee makeshift menorah... before I lit tonight's candle... In honour of Hannukah, in tonight's group meditation we did a Tree of Life meditation adapted from Rabbi Tirza Firestone's The Women's Kabbalah. The meditation involved breathing light up through the body and connecting to the nourishing energy of the Earth through our roots and the energy of Heaven through the branches from our crown chakra. During the meditation... the 9 candles of the menorah, f

LONGING
I long for a world Where everything is different Where I no longer need to straddle two paradigms Where my spiritual self can feel comfortable to live in the humanness of this world I long for a world Which doesn't make me weep... and rage At the injustice, the inhumanity Which doesn't cause me to feel pain every... single... day... I long for a world Which is so radically different Its difficult to even dream at times Where wisdom is currency and those who care are those who

VOW
Yesterday I was questioning 'Why would I want to be an ordained minister?' Right now I feel excited... Let's see what today brings... Tonight I'll be taking my vow. As a One Spirit Interfaith Minister our vow is individual... personal... written by us. It's what we're called deeply to step into... often challenging to live up to each day... repeated each day and throughout the day to remind us of how we want to show up in the world. It is exciting and it's scary... and it f
