RECIPROCAL MINISTRY
Sharing my 'Today's Ministry...' posts on Instagram has been enlightening... As I ponder at the end of each day where I showed up to minister... to serve... ...sometimes its obvious and its in my work... supporting women through my work at Women's Aid; holding meditation groups, women's circles; Spiritual Counselling or Havening sessions; creating and holding ceremonial workshops and ceremonies. ...other times its tangible and has 'results'... such as creating art in remembra

CREATIVITY AND SPIRITUALITY
In the women's circle I'm currently hosting, focused on exploring spirituality, we decided to explore spirituality through art, music and creativity this month. Last month we explored spirituality through story and the time before through a spiritual figure. In previous months, it was really obvious where my exploration was taking me... what figure... what story... they popped into my head... and then appeared synchronistically over the month. But... What art? What music? I

GANESH TO THE RESCUE
Frustrated (again) at not making any progress with my broken laptop, I flopped down with a harrumphhh and a cup of tea onto the sofa. Feeling powerless and despairing... like I'd wasted so much time... going around in circles... and with no idea what to try next, none of my MS apps were working, so no email... no way of editing or creating documents... and with ceremonies to write! As I sat drinking my tea, trying to think-it-fixed, Ganesh caught my eye. Next to a crystal on

WALKING WITH MY INNER CHILD
My dreams have been crazy for months... lots of them... super vivid... multiple in a night... remembering them enough to write down the next day. So I started some dream analysis... My first session was a 1:1. The teacher said it sounded like my subconscious was trying to communicate something. She asked which dream I wanted to work with and I chose one that was so memorable I felt like I could climb back into it. I talked her through it... although its never that easy to do

CONSCIOUS DEATH
On my ministry training we went through the experience of writing a funeral for a peer... which of course meant ours too was written by a peer. It was a strange thing to consult on my own funeral and required some level of acceptance of death. It brought up a lot for me... not least that as a society we've made death the enemy. I engaged my whole family in the process and we had lots of conversations about various aspects of my death and funeral, from how I wanted the time o

WITH THE EYES OF LOVE
I'm hosting a monthly women's circle at the moment... the focus of which is 'exploring spirituality'. We decided in the last circle to each choose a spiritual figure or teacher... possibly female... to journey with over the month and to bring what arises for us to our next circle to share and be witnessed. Two possibilities immediately appeared to me... Joan of Arc and Mary Magdalene! At the beginning of August we stayed in a friend's house for a week and I was looking throug

CIRCLE OF NINE
We started a new Circle of Nine on Sunday... nine women (erm well eight actually... ahh the challenge of putting the number in the name!) coming together to share, to witness, to be seen, to be heard, to feel, to notice how we're challenged, to explore, to learn, to see ourselves reflected back in the other windows of zoom... the square circle! Gorgeous! So many synchronicities in our sharing, our seeing and hearing of one another! We spent much of our first circle sharing wh

WHAT HELPS?
I recently had a chat with someone I'd not seen for a couple of years. I found out her husband had died the year before. She thought I knew... everyone seemed to... I didn't. We talked a little about what happened... how quick from diagnosis to death... how hard its been, especially with lockdown.... what support she has in place. She asked about my ministry and I found myself telling her about havening and its uses in trauma clearing. I could see she was skeptical... she s

WEDNESDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... Interfaith ministry isn't just about about being a celebrant. These posts aim to paint a picture of how my ministry permeates all of my life... For the people who've learnt to meditate with me I offer a 'Motivated to Meditate Club'... perhaps for those who've had a regular practice but have fallen out of it and wish to put more focus on meditation knowing the benefits it brings... or perhaps for those who learnt years ago, but

SUNDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... Interfaith ministry isn't just about about being a celebrant. These posts aim to paint a picture of how my ministry permeates all of my life... Sunday is often a busy day for me... how do you think I spend it? Maybe you're envisaging trips to church or online services... I am a 'minister' after all! But for me spirituality isn't connected to religion. I may talk about God (if people are comfortable with the word), but that mean

NEVER ENOUGH
I've booked two weeks off my Women's Aid work and purposely not put a lot else in my diary. Despite all the self care I put in... the meditation... the walks... the swims... the dancing... the sleeping, I still find the job exhausting, especially when alongside my ministry and so much time on zoom! So, what does a break look like when there's nowhere to go? I know you know this after the year we've had! The kids are pretty self sufficient in so many ways these days so they d

FRIDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... Interfaith ministry isn't just about about being a celebrant. These posts aim to paint a picture of how my ministry permeates all of my life... Today started with the disappointment of no hairdressers appointment again! My hair has taken on a life of its own... May it'll even have its own ministry soon After a busy few days at work... Fridays often start with catching up on all that I've laid down to focus on work and family...

TUESDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... So many people think interfaith ministry is about being a celebrant... so these posts aim to paint a picture of how ministry permeates all of my life... Today started early... well, early for me... maybe not for you! 6am. I've taught lots of people to meditate over the past few years and for those who want to remain in regular contact... to get a wee nudge with their meditation practice... I host the Motivated to Meditate Club.

MONDAY
A day in the life of an interfaith minister... So many people I speak to about interfaith ministry see it as ceremony work... marking transitions, particularly marriage and death, but it feels so much more than that. I feel it permeates so much of my life so I've decided to write some 'day in the life of' posts to see if I can paint a picture... So, today started, like most days, with putting on my ruby ring and speaking aloud the vow I took at ordination last July and thus

IMBOLC DOLL
Loved the honouring of Imbolc and Brigid at a ceremony I held tonight with a dear friend... We journeyed with Brigid the Goddess and Brigid the Saint. Here's an imbolc doll I made earlier today from twigs and moss and sheep's wool and yarn and fabric. She has a wee sack to carry my seeds of intention into the Spring. #imbolc #ceremony #doll #altar

May the creativity that's stirring in you find expression in the world ♡ Its 1st Feb... Imbolc... Brigid's Day... the first day of Spring! I love the contrast in this picture I took yesterday. .. the snowdrops that push their way up to mark the start of spring each year... and behind, the 5000 year old cairn on which the trees now stand...
