DANGER OF NOT LIVING ENOUGH

Tea, scones and chat about death. What could be better?

Today I hosted a Death Café with a friend here on the Isle of Skye.

I love these wee gatherings (this was our second) where anything on the topic of death is up for discussion... There are conversations about pain, grief, family, suicide, assisted death, funeral ceremonies, fear, burial, cremation, spirit and our beliefs about what happens after death.

Today I realised that I'd love to be sung across the threshold into death... and that I need to tell my kids and husband that when I'm close to death (assuming I'm lucky enough to have them there) I don't want them to need to find words... just to sit with me in silence will be more than enough.

I still fancy a mycelium burial suit so I can cleanse my body of toxins as I return it to the Earth. And a green burial ground. Is it just me or does the thought of returning to the Earth feel melty and delicious? The earth of my body being returned to the body of the Earth. Just me???

It was lovely to hear and share different perspectives and to explore together.

Thanks to all who came... some are even coming back again in June.

DANGER OF DEATH KEEP OUT!

or

DANGER OF NOT LIVING ENOUGH, COME IN...

The objective of attending a Death Café is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to supporting us in making the most of our (finite) lives".
